Angry Day 1

Okay! So I've been working as a Government Contractor for over 14 years and .....
I NEED TO VENT!

Here are some of the topics: Customers, Management, CMMi, ISO 9001, PMP, RFPs, TOs, Team Members and just the frustration of all the bull shit involved in contracting for the government!

Today was another day that put me at the edge. My boss confirmed that we were not getting raises this year! Doesn't make sense for our organization since most of our contracts are time and materials and yearly raises are built into our rates! Our parent company is huge and has no frickin clue about Government Contracting and never will. It's amazing to me how many people stay around to be kicked like a dog! I know, I'm still here and plan on going nowhere, but that is a story for another day.

The COR (Contracting Officer Representative) who is also the Project Sponsor, Customer and User (I'm studying PMP so forgive me!) called and started off nice, said she only had two minutes to talk. I expected here to discuss one of three topics that I had been expect a response on her from; one of which I've been waiting a week and a half. But to my surprise and chagrin it was none of those. She said "I only have two minutes to talk, since I have a meeting on the hour, but I wanted to be clear about something...." Paraphrasing - The decision you made ( which I discussed with her subordinate) cannot stand. I expect you to do as I expected and have it done in under two months! Well what she expects done she said is written in the RFP - it isn't - and I had two very seasoned developers look at it who said it couldn't be one. I didn't say anything other than OK got it! You see you can't argue with this woman, she doesn't reason and you can't reason with her. It's all got to be done in her time frame, be damned the realities!

So, this is my first rant... I've got so many to unload that I plan on being a little more organized in my thoughts, if possible and post on a regular basis.
